Reduce moving day drama

I mentioned before that I have moved many times over the years. I would like to think of myself as well-seasoned, but by no means an expert. I just aim to move from A to B with as few hiccups as possible. If I knew some of these tips beforehand, I would have avoided many meltdowns on moving day – which, by the way, people say is one of the most stressful life events.

Oh hi there…

Welcome to Gimme Shelter – my view on decor, DIY and city living. I love discovering new styles and trends for the home, in addition to getting out and exploring Toronto for extra inspiration. I have moved many, many times over the years, and as a result I have parted with some of my favourite things. Each apartment ends up having it’s own feel based on what I could and couldn’t bring along, while overcoming small spaces and budgets. My taste has evolved, and I now understand that it is possible to combine up to 10 distinct styles in one room – everyone is different.

Not everyone has the time or money to purchase everything your heart desires… so I hope to show some alternative routes. Decor brainstorming, design trends, how-to’s, and a few DIY’s to make it look like you bought the real thing – anything to help your space feel closer to your home. Currently my next task is to fill my walls, which have been bare for almost two months – clearly, hanging art seems like such a hurdle for a commitment-phobe.

If you have any suggestions or would like to see anything in particular, please feel free to post comments below.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you will stay inspired!
